Relationships
There are many different types of relationships we will form throughout our lives. These will involve relationships with peers, friends, acquaintances and ultimately for most of us a life partner. Difficulties in, or even the breakdown of relationships can leave us with feelings of loss, confusion and despair. We can also find the onset of other conditions such as depression or anxiety as a bi-product of the relationship problems. Keep in mind though this can also work the other way round if the depression causes an individual to lose interest and stop investing time and effort in the relationship. Sometimes it can be as difficult for those supporting someone with depression as those experiencing it and in these instances it is easy to see how relationships are negatively affected.
We believe that if you just talk to people and be open about how you are feeling then things won't escalate, however not all people feel comfortable doing this which means sometimes we have to work on the 'cure' rather than the prevention. Talking with an impartial professional who is external to the situation can often give you fresh perspective on your situation and help you to understand how to move forward.
