About me and my Counselling
I currently live in Forest Town, Mansfield , East Midlands with my wife Lynsey and daughter Aisla. From an early age I had a passion for helping those in need and this has grown over the years. There are so many challenges we face in life and it's easy to feel overwhelmed and under-prepared. Sometimes it's just nice to talk to somebody to gain a different perspective on some of the things which may be worrying us. I originally began my private practice in South Yorkshire, before moving it down to Mansfield where I have been working with a variety of clients for the last 9 years.
I gained 'A' levels in Psychology and English before going on to complete my B.Sc (Hons) degree in Applied Social Studies. I subsequently obtained a Masters Degree in Psychoanalytic Studies, which is where I decided I really wanted to go into Counselling. I have experience in Mental Health, writing and delivering training on a national level to over 350 staff and managers. I am now a professionally qualified and Senior accredited Psychotherapist and have co-written a book on relationships, which was published in 2015. Away from psychotherapy I am a writer, having just published the second book in the psychological thriller series I am writing. I have previously written a book on male domestic abuse, as well as co-written several CBT books focused around relationships. In addiiton to this, I spent around 3 years as a guest columnist for the Mansfield Chad where I wrote articles around a variety of mental health topics. You can visit my bookshop by clicking here
In 2018, I began writing a book around male domestic abuse, with input from my supervisor Eric Hoskins. This has now been published and you can find it here. In June of 2020, I received notification that I had been nominated by Global Health and Pharma for an award in the 5th annual Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Awards and was subsequently awarded East Midlands Psychotherapist of the year for my client work as well as my work in the community.
I firmly believe we all have the right tools to cope, but sometimes we can have a little difficulty locating these and that's when a therapist can help. By empowering you to explore your feelings and understand your goals I will help you to locate those tools and take control, equipping you not just in the here and now, but also for the future.
If you have any questions I am always happy to have an informal chat with you prior to your first session.
